Kathrin Lange was born in Goslar am Harz in 1969. Although she wanted to join the police dog squad for work, her love of books won out in the end and she became a bookseller first and then a writer. Today she is a member of the PEN and the International Thriller Writers, among others, and successfully writes novels for adults and young people. She lives with her husband and two sons in a small village in Lower Saxony, where she is committed to promoting reading and the integration of refugees.
Kathrin Lange was born in Goslar am Harz in 1969. She discovered her love for the written word early on and amazed her family by spelling out newspaper headlines before starting school. After graduating from high school, she wanted to join the police dog squad professionally, but in the end her love of books won out. She first became a publishing bookseller and worked for a time as a specialist theology bookseller. After the birth of her sons, she founded her own media design company, which she sold in 2009. From 2003 to 2005 she published the author's magazine “Federwelt” and in 2005 her first novel was published by Rowohlt. Her book "Das eightchte Astrolabe" was on the list of nominations for the Sir Walter Scott Prize for the best historical novel of 2008 and her book for young people "The Secret of the Astronomen" received the 2009 youth book prize "Segeberger Feder", "Die Fabelmacht-Chroniken" . Flammendezeichen "was awarded the Saxon Book Summer Readers Award in 2018. With her short story "Jagdsaison 2023" she recently received the Wortrandale Literature Prize 2019 in the category "Deepest / Most Thoughtful Text".
Kathrin Lange is a member of PEN, Syndikat eV and International Thriller Writers and writes novels for adults and young people. Her thriller "40 hours" was given an option for television and was also shown as a radio play on Deutschlandradio Kultur. In 2018 Kathrin Lange will be part of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research's "Culture makes you strong" for the first time. In addition, she gives writing seminars (including at the Federal Academy for Cultural Education eV), is committed to promoting reading among children and young people and to the integration of refugees. She lives with her husband and two sons in a small village in Lower Saxony.
